Human beings have a sense of purpose. Or -on occasion- a sense of purposelessness.
As a group of creatures that doesn't simply exist, but consciously works to develop, vision and leadership are central influencing factors. They shape what we choose to do; and why, when, where, and how we choose to do it.
Whilst words like "vision" and "leadership" are often reserved for only the top people in organisations, in reality everyone has dreams and everyone makes decisions that take them in certain directions. Even the choice to follow is a decision that often results in leading others.
So whilst parents, and colleagues, and siblings, and friends are all leaders, and all influenced in their decision-making by their personal dreams, I wonder where everyone is going...
And as I look around the United Kingdom, I see (with some sadness) a lack of united purpose, and I wonder how long we can live without a shared vision and an integrated leadership that will give purpose to our existence as a nation and as individuals.
What is our vision for our lives, our families, our communities, our country, our world? Who are we following? Where are they taking us? And just as vitally, who is following us, and where are we taking them?
